  it's fictious or factious?

I can't find the definition of fictious.

For factious, according to Kaplan, it's symptom production intentional, but motivation unconscoius. so I don't think it's factious

if there is no other choice, I have to go with major depression.

a factitious d/o is one in which an individual will fully produce signs or symptoms of a medical or psychiatric illness to assume the sick role and its associated gratifications. it should be differentiated from conversion d/o which is not willful and Malingering, which is simply lying about signs or symptoms to obtain gain different from that of the sick role example to avoid military or for money.

"a factitious d/o is one in which an individual will fully produce signs or symptoms of a medical or psychiatric illness to assume the sick role and its associated gratifications"

I'm not sure because I didn't see the question mention "associated gratifications"
