The amount of alanine released from Skeletal Muscle is greater than the amount that can be accounted for in Muscle Protein.
The catabolism of many Amino Acids in muscle involves the transamination of alpha-amino groups from amino acids to pyruvate, producing alanine.
Thus, the Carbon Skeleton of much of the Alanine released from Muscle is derived from glucose via the Glycolytic Pathway.
