  A 27 years old woman at 28 weeks gestations comes for her 1st prenatal visit. She was diagnosed with HIV infxn 1 yr ago but elected not to receive any tx. Examination shows an oral herpes simplex lesion. The uterus is consistent in size with a 28week gestation. Her hematocrit is 37%, CD4 count is 275. Which of the following measures is most likely to prevent HIV transmission to the newborn?

A) AZT and acyclovir therapy for the mother until delivery and no tx for the newborn.
B) AZT for the mother throughout labor and no tx for the newborn.
