  Hello everyone,

This is my first year of applying for residency.

I am a US- IMG, 2014 graduate.
Step 1- 208 (passed on 2nd attempt)
Step 2 CK- 223 (passed on 4th attempt)
Step 2 CS- passed (passed on 1st attempt)
Studying for Step 3 currently.

Worked at an ICU for a month after graduating, in India.

USCE: Clinical clerkship for 1 month in Pain medicine in Boston.
Volunteering at a ED since July 2014. (has affiliation with a medical college) - active
Research Assistant since September 2015. (university) - active
Volunteer at a free clinic since 4 months. - active
Clinical Externship for 8 weeks.
Observership 2 months (still active)

I have no interviews yet, it is surely scaring me. Many have told me have patience.

Is there anything, any suggestions on what I can do or should do? any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you all.

Definitely start emailing or calling programs, the program coordinator is the person to contact. You can use the ACGME ADS database for direct contact info. DO NOT contact PDs. Problem is that some programs don't send out anything to applicants even if they deny them. Reach out to the program and express interest, say you applied and have not received a response yet, see what happens.

FYI most IM interviews released in Nov and Jan.

What you should be aware of though is that it is very difficult to obtain residency in the US with multiple USMLE failures. So I suspect that is the reason why you have not received any offers yet. 6 total attempts at the USMLE is problematic, just being honest.

I have started emailing the programs. Good to know of not disturbing the PDs, a friend of mine said otherwise.

I know, it is hard considering the attempts but won't give up for sure.

Thank you for your input. Appreciate it.

I feel so bad but you worked so hard. Each state has a requirement for total attempts. Please check fsmb.
Have a back up plan , you’ll need to do work in the residency program so they can get to know you

Yes you can't give up, this is your dream. This is why you worked hard and passed the steps. Contact IMG friendly programs. Have faith and hope for the best.

You're a US - IMG so that has to count for a ton, right?
Good luck Stark. Please match so your success story here can be told for years to come!

as there are multiple usmle attempts that might make your chances slow down. universities will filter the applicants and select the one with better credentials.so hope for best wait for 2 more weeks and see.
