Hi everyone, smiling face I had a question about inpatient diabetes management in ccs. When you admit a patient with a serious infection like a pneumonia in an elderly, what do you do for inpatient diabetes management. I almost always start the patient on insulin especial if he not feeling all that well, have the patient on npo etc. I wonder y UW has a very high threshold for insulin use. confusedand i get worried about hypoglycemia since as inpatients in a critical condition, nobody eats well. And I feel nervous about continuing the oral hypoglycemics. insulin sliding scale would be so much more convenient that way.what say people?
