  Background:
Canadian, medical degree from Ireland, just graduated in December 2019.

Academics: Had to re-sit surgery because I failed an oral exam. Graduated with second-degree honours overall.

USMLE Step 1: 229
USMLE Step 2 CK: 230
USMLE Step 2 CS: took it but didn't pass, will re-take in the Spring 2020.

Clinical experience: Great letters from Canadian psychiatrists and electives.
4-weeks psychiatry elective at Larkin
Looking to do some externships and possible research in NYC or Michigan over the spring-summer 2020 after I do my exams (US+Canada).

Research: Presented at 3 medical student conferences/summits (3 psych projects), 1 manuscript submitted to a Canadian journal for publication.

Do you guys think I have a shot for psychiatry in the States? My main concern is my re-sit of surgery and my CS attempt.

As you are a recent grad you will be having chances, try to complete CS exam in the next attempt and pass, also complete Step 3 exam it will be helpful.

Gain hands-on rotations it will be helpful for the application they can strengthen the CV and provides strong LORs for the application.

It will be better to complete CS exam, but dont take the exam in a hurry you need to practice well for the exam.
Try to complete Step 3 exam as well before applying for match and have multiple hands-on clinical experience in the specialty you want to match so that it will improve your CV much better.

There will be chances for matching even with attempt, you need to prepare well for the interview.
