  just got my score. Its 220. is it a too low score? I mean will it affect my residency application?

  220+ is a good score. The PD considers step 3 as a pass or fail for the residents, as the scores dont matter, as long the residents pass and are able to focus on board prep to be certified in thier respective field of medicine. However, it is important for residency applicants to do decent esp if they have attempts or low scores. A good step 3 with first time pass will assure the PD that you are capable of passing and its a big advantage over other IMGs and USIMGs who have a lower scores. 220 is a good score and shouldnt be too worried.

  @Vidhi FYI i havent taken step 3 yet and this was told by one of the chief resident and associate PD. I am sure everyone has different views but overall the consensus was 220 and above is a good score when you are applying.
