university affiliated community hospitals - kyr

im finding quite a few of them. Are these hospitals more community or academic. Will fellowship chances be reduced with them.
eg weiss memorial in chicago is affiliated with u of chicago.

it actually depends on which community hosp. u can call the hosp directly and ask them about the percentage of graduates who got into fellowship.. and if the hospital itself offers fellowship oppurtunities (like in big cities, they too have community hospitals w/c are university affiliated, that offer fellowship as well)

Academic teaching/training is usually best at University Hospital, but some University affiliated community hospitals are superb as far as academic teaching, fellowship chances and other stuff....best example is Mayo school, which is a University affiliated community hospital......but it is the best....take a look to this link

Pure community hospitals (like many NY/NJ programs) are friendly to IMGs....guess why???

For IMGs, University programs are more competitive to get in because you basically will be competing with AMGs, but many IMgs have made it, so you never know.
