A patient has bloody diarrhea since 3 days and he has a h/o consumption of ground meat. The physician ordered culture with strain test. It turned out to be E. Coli 0157:H7 infection.
What is the antibiotic of choice??
antibiotics shudn be used in Ecoli 0157 inf
why u wont use antibiotic?

Yes... Dr. Virgo.. antibiotics in E. Coli 0157:H7 infection cause hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). This is a serious disease in which red blood cells are destroyed and the kidneys fail. Transfusions of blood or blood clotting factors as well as kidney dialysis may be necessary
