I did the kaplan course and I don't recommend it because it gives you a false sense of security. I did worse on the step 3 when I did the kaplan course than I did when I sat down and studied for it on my own. The physicians who teach the course are excellent but the problem is that you are given a numerous amounts of notes to read and memorize, which gives you a great deal of knowledge, but the step 3 exam is not a test of knowledge where you just need to bring up material that you have remembered. It's a test that tests your problem solving abilities, thinking abilities and management. You can have a great deal of knowledge and know the material and still get the question wrong. It is also a test of endurance. The case stimulations are another mind boggler which causes a lot of people to fail and the problem with these is you never get feedback after you take the exam whether you performed well or not. This is worth 25% of your score and the MCQ's are worth 75%. The choice is yours but I know a lot of people who took the course with me said they did not feel it helped them and I did worse when I took the course because of the false sense of hope it gave me. If you are going to do the course make sure that you supplement it with some additional studies of your own so that you will not be relying solely on what they gave you. This is my own personal experience since I have been through it. Good luck with your decision and your studying.
