a patient comes to you with a random blood glucose of 240 mg/dl do you

a- start thereapy for diabetes
b- plasma insulin and c peptide levels
c- fasting blood glucose
d- glocose tolerance test
e- glycosylated hemoglobin levels

c- fasting blood glucose

if patient has features suggestive of diabetes with random sugur of more than 200 u can start therapy...if not than u need to do FBS...if more than 126 on 2 occasions...than start therapy....if equivocal than do glucose tolerance....2 abnormal values qualifies for therapy
