a 26 yr old nullipara presents with smooth , pedunculated ovarian mass ant to the uterus. most likely
a. luteoma
b. cystic teratoma
c. theca lutein cyst
d. serous cystadenoma
e. brenner's tumor
bbbbbbbb
????
serous cystadenoma
my ans) C - Theca Luein Cyst (Luteal Physiological Cyst)

Points favourable for physiological cyst are "smooth ovarian mass in a Pre menopausal Nullipara". Actually this question requires more history, but with the limited information given above, I think Physiological cyst is most common in this age.

Comments welcome.

Ok, is theca lutein cyst pedunculated?
To walata.

Serous Cystadenoma is not common in pre menopausal women {This pt is 26yr Old}. Check OBG Kaplan step2 CK notes.
hey harrisonfan,

Take a look at this

well...Cyst can be sessile or pedunculated but we should concentrate more on the patient's age. And Physiological Cyst is more common in reproductive pre menopausal age group. It would've been great if you would've come up with more history 'goljanstep1'.

I won't deny that Cystadenomas do occur in younger age, but still, Physiological Cysts are more common. Epithelial Tumors are more common in advancing age. Plz try to understand. step3 requires us to understand more common ones. Thanks for the images.
