after 12 hours of fasting, what's the source of energy for the skeletal muscle tissue?
1- FA's.
2- FA's and glucose.
3- AA's.
4- FA's and ketones.
5- glucose and ketones.
IT SHUD BE GLUCOSE,REGARDLESS FOR SKELETAL MUSCLES.
PROLLY OPTION 2
no, it's not 2...
1?
the answer is 4....
the skeletal muscles have the GLUT-4 transporter, which is INSULIN DEPENDENT.. so glucose will not enter the skeletal muscles unless insulin is present, which only occurs directly after a meal...
in prolonged fasting, however, the glucose will go down, so most of the body organs will switch their energy source to FA, and ketones.. except for the RBC, and partially, the brain...

so the source of energy is gonna be FA and ketone bodies..
