i recently mailed one PC about their Programs requirments....like graduation yr was 4 yrs and i need 5 ys cut off so this is wat PC replies back...

What med school did you attend and where did you do your US clinical experience -- was this done as your yr 3 & 4 clinicals?
Thanks.
Residency Coordinator

So she is guessing may be i am AMG interested in her program Smile so now i inform her about my Foreign school and dat i m FMG...and this is the reply which comes back.....

I am sorry, but our requirements state that applicants need to have graduated within the last 4 yrs from medical school and you graduated 5 yrs ago (based on the match date of March 2009.) Actually our faculty are considerimg changing this date requirement to 3 yrs rather than 4. Good luck to you.

can you guys see the difference Amg and Img r treated.....so i guess i m better offf spending 4 more yrs in American medical college and being AMG...( if i dont get residency this yr) not worried about loans we got captain american to bail out banks...when they r in debt with our own tax money...Free country hahahahaSmile
dude.. whats the deal here? IMGs are in excess, they make the choice, not you. if this bothers you so much, you shouldn't be going. i am not saying that beggars are not choosers. but i am saying that AMGs are their children, their students. its only fair that they like them more.
THAT IS NOT ONLY DIFFERENCE. THE DISCRIMANTION STARTS FROM THE START OF THE DAY YOU APPLY. THEY FILTER OUT APPLICATIONS AS FMG AND AMG AND PUTS IN DIFFERENT BINS. I SPOKE TO ONE PC HE SAID BASICALLY THERE WILL BE TWO PILES ONE FOR IMG AMD AMG. THERE YOU GO A BIG DISCRIMINATION. THERE IS NO PLACE YOU SEE DISCRIMINATION LIKE THIS LIKE "UNTOUCHABLES"
@ cheenu hopeful------Shouldnt be going where???....i will go to the end of this... budddy i wont leave this now.....this will go on for eva......IF AMGs are their Children i will become AMG to get into their system Contacted few medical schools in pursue of this and recently mailed my documnets to be evaluated by WES as requested by certain medical schools waiting for conversion of my premedical and MEdical school credentials........this is fight now and i am not easy loser.....and fight has just begun....Smile)))))
to reply to cheenu_hopeful:

what does it mean that AMG are their own students , children...

so WHY they Put aside some posts for IMG and others for AMG
and when they allocated the posts to IMG these should only be given to IMGs
and then it will be the real fair game.

they are getting all our money and nothing in return...even not the true information about the programs.............there is so many discrepncy between what is said online and what you can learn when you call ( If someone is there to take your call and not walking around and drinking SODa/ eating some Bagels....)
drangel, I salute you. I am thinking same as you. Can I get your e-mail, please?
Oh here we go again. We all have to remember that this is their country which we r trying to get into. Of course they will be partial to them. Labor laws actually say a company has to try and hire Americans first and if there r no takers then said company can start looking into foreign assets. This is actually not the case for programs, so one might consider that we r skirting that one.
Bear in mind too that an natural born American who does his/her med school outside of these United States is branded an IMG. Now that one may actually sting.

That said, any program can and will have different rules for AMG and IMGs. Its just the nature of the game. If u wanna play then suck it up and play to win by their rules.

This is ridiculous; you people should be thankful that the system is allowing you to work here. If an AMG wanted to work in India, he would not even be allowed to do that because of the bureaucratic redtape and hurdles. In America, it is so easy to apply for a residency; you just have to click a few buttons on eras.

Moreover, both medical schools and hospitals in america are subsidized by american taxpayers; so why shouldn't they want their own students to get residencies first.
drangel,

Count me...If I don't get residency this year I will try to get into med school again...4 years will be passed away soon...
To get into med school here, do we need to start over and give the steps again? Or will we be able to get some credits from our degree? Any idea drangle?
