Ventral Pons !! That´s the "locked-in" Sindrome; it´s a pseudocoma state (because reticular formation is intact).
Afected pathways are the corticospinal and corticobulbar tracts, which paralize facial, pharyngeal, musculature. Arms and legs are also paralized, with sparing of vertical gaze and blinking, which is a form of communication in this patiens. Sometimes, they might be conscious of what`s going on, and sometimes not.
