hi l84match, I am from india and can very well understand ur position. I asssume u have nuff money !!
u can try the following things:
get a job in SE Asia, singapore, Maladives, and then after ONE YEAR apply a visa 4 US. u will get it 95% chanves, 2 of my friends got it this way.( UK has d highest success rate 99% )
Make a leisure trip to Europe ( shengen visa ) and then after 6 months apply for a US Visa.
and lastly marry in US ( d best thing !!! ) ( 200% )

I am now in UK........ do you think I will be successfull by simply applying for a tourist visa and no other tricks??? like a research position or externship or alike that might get me a J1 instead...... dO you suggest to simply telling the true story and showing the ECFMG letter for 2cs... Which one is better
what about interviews?? should one tell about interviews in the embassy??#
