child with fever--what r Warning signs to call the doc?
no eating or drinking for 8 to 12 hours (dehydration), listlessness (many causes), no wet diapers for 8 to 12 hours (dehydration), doesn't interact well with parent (many causes), cries inconsolably (many causes), fever greater than 40 degrees C. (higher incidence of bacteremia), seizure (fever vs. meningitis), breathly rapidly or difficulty breathing (could be due to acidosis), skin rash with fever (meningococcemia or other serious infection)
