Getting a good USMLE score is just the beginning. Most residency programs set their initial filter at 95th percentile. If you are in the 95th percentile, you have succeeded in meeting the criteria for an interview. But there are 200 other IMGs with the same score who will also be invited for an interview. Remember that there are only about 10- 15 PGY-1 spots. How could you be the one to be selected for one of those spots? There are multiple variables that can affect your chances of success:
1. The most important one, HOW WELL DO YOU PERFORM IN YOUR INTERVIEW? Remember that once you are in that seat across the program directors, the playing field in even. Your chances are as good as any one else, regardless of your scores or USCE? Of course, the personal statement and LoRs will still heavily influence the final outcome.
2. How well is your personal statement framed, so that it effectively communicates to the PD about yourself and what you bring to their program?
3. What kind of LoRs do you have, be it from US attending physicians or attending physicians from your home country?

You now have a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet current residency program directors and get coached through all aspects of the residency application process. At the upcoming IMG seminar, the directors will
- Conduct practice interview sessions with you; provide real time feedback regarding your performance and give specific cues on how to improve it. Rest of the attendees will get to watch this live interview, grade the performance of their colleague and have an opportunity to ask question that they might have regarding the interview.
- Discuss ways to get around different kinds of individual disasters, be it poor USMLE scores, or old time grads or even lack of USCE etc
- Tell you what information needs to go in the ERAS application
- Teach you how to write a stand-out personal statement
- Guide you how to get compelling Letters of Recommendation

At the same seminar, immigration attorney will also be present to help you navigate through intricate visa issues.
