An infant is brought to your office for itching with a rash primarily on its feet. (See photograph.) The infant's mother states that she has a similar rash and itching on various parts of her body below her neck. The mother's rash has been present for almost 3 weeks, while the infant's rash has been present for approximately that time. The itching is worse at night and after bathing. Of the following options, which one is most likely responsible for the infant's rash?

A.Insect bites
B. Atopic dermatitis
C. Scabies
D. Infantile acropustulosis
E.Miliaria

Appropriate treatment options for the infant described in the previous question include all of the following EXCEPT


A.Permethrin lotion, 5 percent (generic, Acticin®, Elimite®)
B. Sulfur (5 to 10 percent in petrolatum)
