this forum is a bit too religious dont you think ?
people invoke god in almost everything.
if there is a call, then its due to God's mercy
if there is no call, then God willing there will be a call. have faith in the almightly god.
Man, i am sick of this- how the best minds in the world still are so dogmatic when it comes to that collection of 2000 yrs old outdated preachings called religion, meant to control a desert tribe.
peace.
@ duloxetine
My thoughts exactly!!
Yeah I hate GOD thingy too...It all 3 major middle eastern religions were meant for TRIBES...
Well, that is because of faith and belief. Just as you dont believe it, others do. Its just about different ideology. I do believe in God but I wont say that you are right or wrong, thats not for me to decide. But I do appreciate that you were careful and choosing the words to express yourself.
@ shalllmatch
Whats this supposed to mean -- It all 3 major middle eastern religions were meant for TRIBES?
Well, that is because of faith and belief. Just as you dont believe it, others do. Its just about different ideology. I do believe in God but I wont say that you are right or wrong, thats not for me to decide AND vice versa. What say ?
@ kdot
One needs to draw a line somewhere and start being rational.
It is OK for someone to be religious/spiritual; but attributing each and every event to God's will/mercy etc is definitely going overboard.
Religion can and does offer a strong support source to those who believe in it. Overreliance on this however -- will ultimately end up doing more harm than good.
@ carpe_diem
I agree with you somewhat. But if we talk about the residency thing as we see in the forum, when we apply, we have already taken care of what we could. Studying hard for the exams, researching the programs to apply, applying on time etc. But I am sure that you will agree that after that its pretty much luck. No ? A lot of people get calls from a particular program and still a lot of people of equal or even better credentials dont hear from them. There was a time that I used to believe that what ever happens to us is as a result of what we do. If you dont get good scores, that means you had not studied hard enough. But over the time, as I have matured, I have realized that there are a few things that are just beyond you, things which you dont have control over. And you just cant do anything about it. Its not that I didnt believe in God before that, but that belief kinda grew stronger. I guess ts a long and debatable discussion based on every ones individual ideology.
and things beyond YOU, you start attributing everything to god!!!! That's IS the reason why god was created by humans...Religion thrives on broken spirits...religion SUCKS.
kdot and carpe: you both are right. I just think that if taking the name of God gives some sort of moral solace to the person who writes about a problem, or if the person invokes God to reassure or assuage someone else on their problem, we should just let it go..
I would prefer to see "God's grace / G. willing" more that that of users like kky or holycow or prophethound or whatever that idiots name is and all his aliases.. I am sure so you would. We can reduce the shrillness in the forum about religion and nationality that a bunch of jerks often bring on board.
On another note, carpe have you joined boytoy in the midnight thread?? I just said hi to him; but maybe his sight is fuzzy
