What is the management of asymptomatic or insensate diabetic peripheral neuropathy? Are drugs such as TCA, Gabapentin etc are required in this case also?
Someone please share your thoughts on the subject?
these drugs are given as analgesic for neuropathic pain .....so i don't think it's any use to give them in asymptomatic cases
Is maintaining normoglycemia by adequately controlling DM and routine foot examinations is all that is required?

If so, what should be the frequency of foot examinations, and can normoglycemia reverse DPN?
microfilament testing to detect asymptomatic earliest neuropathy signs , maintaining hgba1c < 7.0, self foot exam by patient, foot exam at every visit by clinician (every 3months) and podiatry consult, with great foot care is all that is required if it is asymptomatic.
Normoglycemia can prevent further progression of DM neuropathy. It can not reverse it.
Thank you to both usmle_doc3 and thyrogen for their removing my confusion.
