A healthy 42-year-old female executive presents to your office
for a preemployment physical examination. She has no significant
past medical illnesses and does not smoke or use any
medications. She is in a stable, healthy marriage and she has
2 children, ages 18 and 20 years. She has not seen a physician
for many years. Her family history is remarkable for an
older brother having had colon cancer at age 50 years; he had
resection and is doing well without evidence of recurrence 6
years later. There is no other significant family history.
Routine cancer screening tests you would recommend for her at this time include:
a. Chest radiography, mammography, and pelvic examination
and Papanicolaou test
b. Mammography, pelvic examination and Papanicolaou test,
ovarian ultrasonography, and determination of the serum
cancer antigen 125 level
c. Clinical breast examination, mammography, pelvic examination
and Papanicolaou test, digital rectal examination
and fecal occult blood test, and colonoscopy
d. Breast MRI, mammography, pelvic examination and
Papanicolaou test
e. Chest radiography, mammography and breast ultrasonography,
pelvic examination and Papanicolaou test and pelvic
ultrasonography, and colonoscopy
