hi guys, i was very worried n used sources to talk to very high ranking official in directorate of health - the new J1 rules are going to be out in March 1st week , and Letter of need will be issued in high volume. However there is bond of 7 lakhs (SEVEN) , but this will make you get NORI letter - No obligation to return to india - so it will take care of waiver job.

Hope this helps everyone
This is good news!! Thanks dilemna_doc....

I want to ask you one thing - what do u mean by "take care of waiver job"?
it means that no more J-1 waiver needed... simply get NORI certificate from india... then u dont need waiver job, can apply for h1b/green card directly.
but waiver is a requirement of the US govt not india right? so how is the waiver going to be waived?

and u have to pay 7lakh to get this NORI?
@dilemma: dude, your statement is very misleading. The NORI certificate is to get a waiver job in the US. J1 waiver job is part of the US policy and there is no way around the J1 waiver job compulsion.
so now its up from 5 lakhs to 7.. fantastic.. at this rate i'll be paying off loans just like the US medical grads
what's the lakhs? money?
ok sorry.. all i was told was that NORI can be issued after bond is taken care off...
But instead of doing 2/5 yrs of return back to india... you will get NORI....so i think no need to do waiver job in USA
okay. Once and for all. Even if the Govt. of India awards you a bharat ratna you MUST still do a J1 waiver job in order to continue your stay in the US if you are on a J1 visa. Waiver job is an american policy and Indian govt has absolutely nothing to do with it. Period.
