Do you still give HBIG and HBV vaccine to someone who comes into office and is diagnosed with HepB w/ a hepatitis panel? And do you do liver biopsy on them after that if asymptomatic, or only if symptomatic?
ther is no point in giving hbig, and hbv vaccine to some one alraedy diagnosed with hep b.and regarding biopsy we do it in ppl having raised lft,s but no stigmata of decompemsated liver disease,we do biopsy to decide whether to give antivirals or not,,if biopsy shows minimal inflammation we can wait to start antivirals with periodic monitoring of viral load and lfts,,
Thank you.. so what if they have high LFT but are asymptomatic, do we do liver biopsy if they have a positive hepatitis panel? How high are liver enzymes in hepatitis versus alcoholics?
