I dont wanna join kaplan for step3 i have already spent a lotta money on these courses i wanna save this time, whats the best way out.
what do i need, plz help me...

Swanson, Crush can be your standard books. Go over important topics like ethics, ccs work ups from popular web sites. Practice a lot of multiple choice questions. Use the offical fsmb cd to get used to the format. Plan on studying daily and increase pace as the exam nears.

That is to start with. You need something more to get over the pass mark. It is the approach that matters as well as focussing on certain areas. Been there, done that! You need not study for a year or six months for this exam.
