17 year old LOC after hitting head on side of pool during diving practice. LOC less than 10 secs. is semi-alert with pe: external ocular movements slow but intact, pupils and tongue are normal. No crepitation on skull, bilateral bruises on mastoid process, free movement of all extremities with no sensory loss. most likely diagnosis?
a. anterior cranial fossa fracture
b. basilar skull fracture
c. epidural hematoma
d. posttraumatic stress disorder
e. subdural hematoma

instantly thought of 1 answer due to bruises, but LOC and slow extra-ocular movements is throwing me off
any thoughts?
trauma = epidural, no need to overthink. scan the kid
thats what i thought.
if you have attention deficit disorder, you may easily forget loc and just see mastoid bruising as you finish reading question. i get a case of the add's sometimes hehe
yea and if he had something like basilar he would have racoon eyes, cf from nose, breathing problems (herniation)
