Well done future surgeon/ rush , hate off Smile
Doing blood supply of CNS by dr najeeb (amazing teacher )
@rush

Thanks for the detailed description.i like ur style and appreciate it. It's kinda my style too Smile I made a micro notebook and its separated by markers and imp facts are highlighted . Then I made immuno notebook and its basically all flowcharts of the info I'm supposed to Remember . It took me 2 days to make it but I can go over it in 2-3 hours the next time.

My main problem I'm facing is to sit for long hours. And I'm taking too long for each uw test ..approx 7-8 hours for one block . Is it because it's my first time or is it because I'm really slow in understanding ? Sad I want to Improve my sitting. Generally I give 3 sittings of 2.5 hours each .and that's all. I kinda got bogged down by all this new information in the uworld.
If u give 13-15 hours of sitting, how often do u take breaks ? How do u space it out? Most importantly , how do u keep the zeal for sitting all these long hours for months ? Thanks again rush !
@reminemi

i know you just started your prep , i did not take the test yet but i started my prep earlier than you so allow me to give you some advises

1/ don't overwhelm your self , take it one by one .

2/ step 1 prep is a training for marathon not a dash race .

3/ study hrs doesn't measures by quantity , its the quality what really mattered,

4/ some people are full time step one student , some are only part timers but the key is what is your plan for today ? is it realistic ?how can i execute it ? how much you retained ?

for me some times all what i can get is few kaplan lecture while cooking or folding the laundry or some times few uw qs while on my i phone app while waiting in a doctor appointment with my kids

5/ consistency is a big key , one hr is better than nothing

6/don't pre planned excuses (eg Christmas is here i will not be able to study ) instead prepare your Christmas study plan

7/ Finnish your first reading and try to make it as deep as you can becase this is the base of your building , you don't need to a house with week infrastructure that will collapse over your head .
@ reminemi

bugguy is totally right! The key here is to find your own consistent rhythm and keep your commitment to your commitment.

I am a workaholic person, not an example. And I am pretty sure that there are people that can make the most of 8h study, much more effectively than I am able to do in my daily 13h. So, just try your best, and it will work for you.
Bugguy ..

Yes ..I know u r totally right..I know it's a marathon. I hv already given 3 months and at the most I will give it another 5 months. And I wanna be done in 9 months at the max. Maybe one month plus or minus. I don't wanna stretch beyond this. I'm studying at a very sad point of my life due to some real tragic situations in my life. I will b ok with whatever score I get. I just wanna get 220 plus and I guess I will be content. Though I don't know if I should raise the bar and try to get more score because I graduated 5 years back. Due to some immensely tragic circumstances, I couldn't get to stdy or advance my career once I was done with graduation.

Actually I wanna be done with this and move onto other activities of life like finding a boy , marrying , building a home..I hv all these normal girly dreams. If I keep sitting at home with books ,how will some guy find a charming gal like me ..hehehehe.. Kidding.... I don't wanna stay in the lonely single zone and just study , study and study forever. I will persist for 3-4 more months AFTER completing my syllabus and I wanna b done in that. I want my step1 to motivate me and propel me towards a life of academics...but academics are not the only thing I want. I want to live a balanced life. don't know how people say they did in 4 months or 6 months and get 260. It's such an immense task. If I get 220 plus after 9 months of work I will b satisfied. I guess! Smile

Ur message was very encouraging , as always. Thanks bugguy. Ur guidance and motivation is very much valued ! Smile
@bugguy ,How do you listen to kaplan lectures at the gym?..do you have an audio version? I am also a mother like you and I am trying to multitask whenever possible. It would be of great help if I could listen to those while at gym...kindly advice.
@ reminemi, I don't know what tragedy you experienced but I am so sorry about that , my advice to you if you feel this is not right time to take this test , please don't push your self this test is very critical , I moved here 4 yrs ago but I just started 2 yr ago of my on and off prep until I became serious about this test 6 month ago , why I did that because it wasn't my time I have to balance my life first , this test is a wild horse that you try to set on his back and each time that horse will kick you and make you fall , you need to jump back on the back of this horse and tight your grip on him each time more and more stronger . ( I hope you get my point )

So you have to chose one either finishing this test with the best you can do or you postponed this until you settle with your life.

One more advice , its very very very hard to do this test when you are married , so please use this advantage of been un married and kids free to finish the test. GL

@focus2013 , the Gym is my stress relive thing . As soon as I put the kids on school bus I go to the gym with my Kaplan lecture loaded on my tablet , I do 1 hr lecture on the treadmill then I took 15 min break to do revision then I do 15 min setups or weight lifting while listening to Goljan audio .
