In kaplan the rash and arthralgias are due to immune complexes...that is 100% correct info. let me try to explain. beside immature RBCs, b19 also affects endothelial cells of small blood vessels... secondary IgM and IgG are attached to these vessels. This will turn on monocytes and neutrophils, which will destroy the endothelial cells of small vessels.
