Alopecia acreta vs Alopecia Totalis vs androgenic - zarra - ArchivalUser - 10-31-2006

Does anyone know the exact differences between Alopecia Acreta, Alopecia Totalis and Androgenic Alopecia

This is what I have so far: (but dont know if its right)

Acreta - is AA, get oval patches of hair loss with expand to include areas of the scalp. (assoc with anti-microsomal ABs)

Totalis - involves the entire scalp

Androgenic Alopecia - hormone induced, involves males and females, is male pattern baldness

Thx cd45.
I am sure you will do very well........in Step1.
Alopecia areata is due to some autoimmune aetiology...then should we prescribe prednisolone?
