I am so sad , I applied for anesthesia and IM , I am Anesthesia board certified in my country , and lotsof publications , had 4 Iv for Anesthesia and 5 for IM , I didnt match in Anesthesia but matched in a community IM !!( I received good letters from anesthesia PD after my IV and I was over confident !! )
I am so sad !! and my family also ` !!
Is there any hope to change after one year residency ??

of course it is. don´t overwhelm us with that. you have enter the sistem , what is more important. then you will have the opportunity to switch to the program you want. if you would feel what is not to get matched...you weren´t say that. please feel happy of what you get and go ahead for what you pursuit in this year

I dont understand this!! if you never wanted to end up in IM why did you even bother to rank them???
Please dont be ungreatful and think about 50% of those who are left unmatched...

hey,
see u already have ur prioirity..ur family...so maybe its better for u to match somewhere rather than going unmatched. but dont give up ur goals, keep trying to switch...I belive, whatever happens,happens for good reasons, but ur stuggle and determination is what counts, you'll get ur reward one day.

IF U TELL UR IM PROGRAM,I WILL WRITE TO THEM OR CALL THEM ASAP AND LET THEM KNOW U R WASTING THEIR RESOURCES AND U R NEVER GOING TO BE A RIGHT CHOICE R THEM.WHOEVER IS NEXT IN THE LIST,THEY CAN CALL AND GIVE THAT SEAT.

Try the NRMP website,learnt they still have unfilled anesth. positions,and if you get one ask your program to let you off the IM contract.
I understand your condition,you deserve to be fulfilled in life,IM is a far cry for someone interested in anesth.May God help you.

There are hundreds and thousands MD are still outside of the US medicine door. You are the lucky one to get in already. although it is not perfect. TO a lot people, no less to say perfect, it is miserable. they have family too.

well its a pretty good score,but not 99/99 plus 1996 is late.plus you never know what's gonna be next year.most programs will give you to sign the contract for the pgy-2 in december-january,when you won't know for sure if you matched.even if you sign a prematch and won't sign the contract for pgy-2, its gonna be a spit in PD's soul.He'll try to make your life harder(in this case i consider it will be fair),and you won't have good LOR at all. stay where you stay.thats my opinion.
