theres no east bengal in india.bangladesh was called east bengal when it was part of pakistan.so east bengal means bangladesh.

ha ha ha ..... very interesting topic indeed! East Bengal is really Bangladesh, but is not called so anymore. Actually derived from erstwhile British Raj lingo, when Bengal was divided in 1905 into two parts & which really kickstarted the Indian Freedom Movement....later it referred to Pakistan's Eastern province after 1947, and finally became Bangladesh.
