A young girl - malak - ArchivalUser - 05-17-2007

A young girl is bitten on the finger by her pet kitten. Within 8 hours the finger is red and indurated, and a seropurulent discharge can be expressed from the wound. A Gramâ„¢s stain reveals many polymorphonuclear leukocytes and small gram-negative coccobacilli with bipolar staining.

The responsible organism is most likely

Candida albicans
Pasteurella multocida
Yersinia pestis
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Staphylococcus aureus
