yep rt wwjd,when is ur exam?

Torsades de pointes=
Ventricular tachycardia characterized by shifting sinusoidal waveforms on ECG.
Can progress to V-fib.Anything that prolongs the QT interval can predispose to torsades de pointes.

well genius123 i have scheduled my test for Oct 13 but i might postpone it after my NBME score if i dont do well on it what bout you?

also torsades de pointes means "twisting of the points" as it has characteristic twist of the QRS complex around the isoelectric baseline...

Factors that are associated with an increased tendency toward torsades de pointes include:

* Familial long QT syndrome
* Class IA antiarrhythmics
* Hypomagnesemia
* Hypokalemia
* Hypoxia
* Acidosis
* Heart failure
* Left ventricular hypertrophy
* Slow heart rate
* Female gender
