Is it OK. call and ask whether they rank me or not - andyandy - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 prematch deadline is coming.. how do you guys think about that? calling the program and asking whether they rank me or not.. 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 Hi Buddy, Yes you can surely let the other program know about the offer and then see what happens. Obviously you would want to know what your chances are at your preferred hospital. 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 where in nrmp does it say we can ask a program if they will rank us, coz i wanted to ask, but i don't know if we can. i know we can't ask what position like 1, 2 ........but can we ask if we will be rank or ranked highly......... can someone pls find out.... thanks 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 good question 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 hellooooooooooo..........anyone know if we can ask?????????????????? and what is the proper way to ask 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 if you do there s nothing wrong but you wont get an answer thats for sure. i tried emailing but all you get it is goodluck, we know its tough decision but good luck. so be prepared for that 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 I say, leave it alone. By this time, if they wanted to prematch you, they would have already asked you.. if you call, you're simply going to look desperate... the order that they rank you, they will not tell you (it says so on NRMP) -- what do you expect them to tell you, "you will be ranked very high" ??? I say, leave it alone. 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 if i understood the nrmp rules properly, it implies that that we can "volunteer" abt our interest and also the programs can "volunteer " their interest in us and each can mention each other saying that we would rank u high (though they r not necessarily bound to those statements)...information abt ranking should not be "asked" for...while information or interest abt ranking can b volunteered, this "should not be asked for".... so if u r interested in a program, u may volunteer the info that u r interested in them and would b ranking the on the top of ur list but u can ask them if they are interested in u or how they woul b rnking u...after ur mail, if they r interested, they may volunteer the info abt their ranking to u., even if u hav not aksed them ...(Ofcourse some programs may not reply to u even if they like u, which may basically because thats the way they work..)...hopw this helps...good luck 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 whatever the program may say..irrespective of watever they say, please rank them accordin to ur interest in those programs and not based on their response... 0 - ArchivalUser - 01-29-2008 yeah i agree...the answer is gonna be very diplomatic....."Yes ofcourse, we r ranking u very high" but I think calling them will atleast remind them of ur application & that u r interested. |
