Thanks friend,
can you explain hopingfor99 ...
why it is --
* viable sperm come out?
* anticipation?

I also gave ans to "ATP depletion" and found wrong according to the answers sheet coming out with respective NBME showing correct ans. as =degradation of membrane-phospholipid.

1. it's a known fact that for about 2 wks after vasectomy, viable sperm can be ejaculated because sperm are present not only in the epididymis, but also throughout the vas deferens... that's why they advise to use some other form of contraceptive until it can be confirmed by an ejaculate collection that there are no sperm left... erectile problems and sensory loss are not known complications, and even if they do occur, viable sperm is more characteristic because it occurs ALL the time

I did not know about this fact , thanks a lot..hopingfor99

and...for the previous other q...

what is the diagnosis for that anticipation case?

4. this is most likely myotonic dystrophy (a trinucleotide expansion disorder), but don't worry u didn't need to dx the dz to answer the question...
it's clear that both mother and daughter have the same dz, a form of muscle weakness... but the neonate has a more SEVERE and EARLIER presentation = definition of anticipation

2. ATP depletion ---> pumps don't function ---> swelling
ATP depletion ---> breakdown of glycogen to provide energy
