I am quite surprised to see the level of competetion there is in PAthology. I am hoping to apply for 2011 path residency but honestly speaking am quite stressed now as most of you have great creds and I have none really.
I am FMG, seeking H1, planning on applying in IL area (preferably due to spouse job), 84/85/CS passed/80. Have no past Path experience and am an old graduate (2000). Have previous surgical exp in home country and EM in UK. Worked in US in IM but hated it so resigned after 5 months. Have always been interested in Surgery and Pathology but since Surgery is just too out of reach for me, will be applying for pathology. Planning to start an observership at a top Uni place next month with hopes of learning some basic stuff and getting LORs from US pathologists.
My question:
1- do i stand any chance?
2- What should I do to improve my chances/CV?
3- How is the market in IL?
Kindly advice. Honest opinion will be appreciated ( I know i suck)...
