Silent Rejections!! - doctorjigga - ArchivalUser - 09-05-2009

Hi all

I have come across about " Silent Rejections" in another USMLE forum. Is that true that some programs do not even bother to send out rejections????

I know its still so early to expect IVs or Rejections now. And, I also know some programs want to hold some applicants as their back-ups, in case some ppl cancel or do not show up in interviews.

But, about Silent Rejections?? is that true???

yes many do not bother to send rejection letters. So be very happy to get a rejection letter.

In fact it is a blessing to get a rejection letter!

Yes, out of ten 3-4 will not send you rejection but when you will contact them they will tell you that they have already sent the invitations to the potential candidates. hope it helps

bjpsumbrias,

You have an excellent resume. I strongly believe that you will be showered with so much IVs that you will not be able to attend all.

Just be patient. It is damn too early to complain!

Yup, last year I applied to 78 programs only 30 replied to me. But then again I applied very late.

its true that some programs don't bother to reply. but it can benefit you to call or email them and ask about your application after a week or two has gone by. i was given an interview based on my persistence of interest in the program.

good luck !

Yes, it's very true.

The programs are not obligated to respond to each and every applicant. Therefore, before hearing a response from a program, you should have an idea as well. However, if it gies against your reasoning, you can always call the program.

Remember, even residency is like any other job. Learn and learn well to promote and sell yourself.

i disagree with the above two. even if by some miracle u dont piss off the PC or PD by persistently calling them and they invite u for an IV , just because u r SO persistent, is no guarantee that they wud want such an annoying persistent pain in the butt in their program. plus an iv shud be a real interview , not one u get cuz u r begging them , thats just making urself feel better, if they want u and want to keep u , they wud invite u , else u r only wasting ur resources in going for an interview , cuz we both know how u got it .
