passed 92 on 3rd attempt - maxim9496 - ArchivalUser - 09-16-2009 this forum helped me a lot so its payback time. I hope i can help someone out there. 1st 2 attempts were outside the country studying alone limited resources and old books. passed previous steps 1st attempt but lower scores this time went through 1st aid once, dr Red both ccs and bought online access to notes (this is cheaper and you can do some lectures twice eg your weak areas) , crush once, uw mcq's x 2 , uw mcq score 1st attempt 55, kaplan q bank 57 ist time b/4 revision, nbme 410 2 weeks b/4 exam, uworld assesment test 194, 2 weeks b/4 exam. I did the uworld ccs multiple times and all day, a day b/4 the exam idid sat- monday combo. i think the most important thing esp for mcq's is to get the latest material, one or two sources and read them thoroughly. I had made my own notes from all topics and read them 1 week to test, it was a great refresher cos some things i had studied 1-2 months earlier i recalled just b/4 the test from my notes It was my third attempt so had to be very thorough I was scared and thought i failed after the ccs, most cases ended 5-10 mins, i did not finish one case ie lasted 20 mins but it had a dual diagnosis sorry cannot post my cases because i am a resident here in us but there were no surprises, all in uw and ez pass and common diseases. In my ccs did not do a lot of low scoring / non scoring things like elevate head of bed etc, this is even emphasized in the introductory part of the test and i was advised of this as well. Just go straight to what u have to do. I always counseled out patients eg two of my patients stopped smoking b/c of counselling and by the next visit. always did later test for follow up (extreme high performance score for ccs) Finally in mcq's i think u have to be a bit stubborn and scan anwers first to avoid the tricks and narrow your options and thought process esp in er cases. believe me those things are long and a lot of unecessary info good luck all 0 - ArchivalUser - 09-16-2009 hi how to approach red ccs cases? can we do online? iam from outside USA...so cant go for live classes. please help. 0 - ArchivalUser - 09-16-2009 that is a great score that you can mention and it will be helpful in your fellowship application. 0 - ArchivalUser - 09-16-2009 congrats and i would like to get more pointers from you since i am hoping to pass the third time. can you tell me how long and tell me details on your study regimen. my email is medicalmonster. thanks 0 - ArchivalUser - 09-16-2009 btw when you meant latest materials can you tell me which ones they were?
