Is it illegal? - skystar - ArchivalUser - 12-11-2009

Hi friends,
Is it illegal to let the program know that "I will rank you as my 1st/top residency choice in my rank order list?" in an e-mail. If I really like the program?
Is it a violation of NRMP policy?

it's not illegal if you offer the info bc you want to. it's illegal to ask them how they will rank you.

Not at all! However, all PDs know, its routine for candidates to say that they will rank their program high and vice versa. Therefore, you have to standout, be unique, say different things, not the routine versions, be different!

thanks and GL :-)

It´s illegal for a PD to promise a match-to-rank position. Ambiguous "high on list" are not illegal, either way.
