Done with Day 2!!!! done done.. hopefully :) - way2chillmd - ArchivalUser - 04-05-2010

Day 2 mcq's were alot easier than day one. Except for time restraint where I ran out of time on one.. Got really tired all of a sudden after my 3rd block and was really anxious about the CCS cases... But glad it was done.

Did the CCS tutorial then proceeded.. I freaked out.. DONT FREAK OUT!! my hands were trembling.. just typing god knows what so that my patient would improve but eventually got the case figured out .. and the wonderful 5 minute screen popped up.. and the case was done.

Calmed my nerves a bit and proceeded with the rest of the cases... all my cases ended between 8-14mins.. I'm hoping this is a good sign.. I made some mistakes, left some stuff out, but managed, counseled, refered when I had to and provided proper treatment. Im hoping this was enough.

All the cases are in UW so master them and master them well. Question, do they throw away any cases? I don't think I screwed up in any case.. but I missed type or miss-selected one order that maybe way off. Just hoping this doesn't cost me too much.. sigh it's over now the wait..

Good luck to all that are taking it.. it's a marathon and will test your stock knowledge of all previous steps with newly acquired step 3 material... there are some really simple questions they asked.. which I find bothersome because, it was too easy too straightforward.. double checked to see if there were any hidden clues in the PE or Labs and nothing.. just tried to answer what first came to mind when questions like this come up...

Oh well, if you have any questions.. please feel free to ask..

Must be such a relief ! Best of luck for the results. Take a well deserved break.
How much time did it take you to prepare for CCS from UW?
Any particular topic was tested heavily for you? Thanks.

My scores were all over the place.. started with poor UW 48, then did it 3x more with my own notes and eventually got in the high 60's.. there is no value doing these questions over and over.. the value is in making notes of the explanations.. and reviewing it over and over..

i have 4 notebooks which i read over and over and over.. read MTB 4x some topics 5x..this is the most high yield book out there.. if you don't get this and read it once your an idiot or must be really a genius..

did MKSAP.. hard questions.. scores.. high 40's some 60's... not really worth it.. confusing but the style of the questions are the closest to step 3.

Get a copy of a FM review book.. this is also a must.. make notes..

Hope my method works..

CCS did 3x, made algorithims of the cases and read it over and over...

Hope this helps.. repetition is key to any review.. especially for average folks like myself..

All are equally tested.. don't fool yourself that it's all going to be IM.. it's not.. and you'll be sorry..

Today was about 4 sentences each.. some 3.. not that brutal..

UW is still the way to go.. first day felt like a UW exam... lots of UW concepts were ooozinng out of the first day..

Didn't do NBME.. you should though..

font size?? lol.. its bigger maybe 11.. I wore reading glasses.. they have improved their quality

I've been preparing for this exam for about 6 months.. and put almost 600 hours into it..

I havent done residency so needed a really long time to understand the software and what to order. Hope I didn't make major mistakes on CCS..

I didn't really on my pretest scores.. they make me nervous.. understanding the concepts is key..

I wish I had time to review step ck stuff thats my only regret
