Is there any specific reason why ECFMG/Prometric does not conduct exam every yr during the 1st two weeks of January i.e. 1st Jan - 14th Jan?

That is the tradition and has always been such. Same trend over the years and surely nothing new this year!!!!!

They probably need holidays too....you know the christmas , New Year holidays....

Even when I was in undrgrad college here we used to get the entire January off starting from Christmas!!!

so, does anyone know, if when applying for an extension ,the 3 months of which includes the holiday period, would they give an extra 15 days extension?
like say I am extending from Oct- Nov to Dec-Feb which is the next consecuitive period, would they include March 1-15 also in the valid period ? Thanks.

No they will not give you an extra 15 days ...The 15 days are included in the extension....as far as I know!!....You just move on to the slot of the next three months in the extension!!
