after being picked up by the police a runaway adolescent girl become increasingly somnolent and lapsing to deep coma 72 hours later her respirations are deep and rapid and she appeared to dehydrated, lab studies shows marked decrease in bicarbonate and significant anion gap as well as neutrophilic lecukocytosis. The mostlikely additional lab finding will be
A. BUN to creatinine ratio less than 1:10
b. decreased cortisol
c. dec T4
d. increased serum proteins
e. increased glucose

diabetic ketoacidosis,,,,,,i was think septicemia and adrenal insufficency and decrease cortisol ,,very close clinical history

Well I too wud have marked E... I think she is in DKA... There's metabolic acidosis(low bicarb), compensatory resp alkalosis(hyperventilation), dehydration and coma. This all points to DKA. So there shud be increased glucose... The neutrophilic leukocytosis might suggest that she is having an infection which could have precipitated that DKA attack...
Guys, am I thinking on the right track?
