exam experience - md08us - ArchivalUser - 04-11-2011 Study material: Kaplan Step 2 CK books, Kaplan Q Bank, UW Q Bank, UW CCS & Forum discussion Prep time : on & off 4 months, hard core- 2 months( 5 hours/day)+ Believe in God and yourself as without this nothing is possible.... day 1: Definitely not from UW or Kaplan, but its all about your cumulative knowledge compiled since your 1st day of medical school. like, you learned every point of life at every aspect of medicine. Questions are vague , some point you get 2 options to decide. and time is not really an issue, at least for me, I got adequate time to finish every block. But, if you linger any question for long than at the end you will suffer. Questions you dont guess at first view it will never give you right answer after 2 minutes, so keep going. day2: comparatively less stressful but same difficulty level as day 1.((may be day 2 has less amount of questions and you get plenty of time in between CCS cases..... ))Cases are OK, means if you do UW as well as staffs discussed in this forum you will be fine. MCQ: 50% Internal med 50% equally distributed. and what I didnot listened from this experienced forum member that I didnot study Geriatric Medicine, which is very important to know but I somehow managed by guessing.... which could be better if I studied. CCS: I will post my cases after my result but just one advice, when you read MCQ just read the big cases carefully with some diagnostic tests as well as treatment. As, end of the Physical exam you get or can guess the diagnosis and you need to confirm them by those tests.... AND dear FORUM SCHOLARS:::: keep doing what you are doing here...it helped me a lot. I appreciate this from the bottom of my heart. you guys are great. ..............waiting for results.........4 week from now !!!!!!!!!! 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-11-2011 some names I can remember now,Misshyd, sami2004, forever, babm, meti please forgive me if i miss whom has a great contribution . 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-11-2011 some names I can remember now,Misshyd, sami2004, forever, babm, meti please forgive me if I miss whom has a great contribution . 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-11-2011 Hello md, I am glad that u have done the test. Hey, your feed back really made me chills, and really appreciate your sincere advice. Now we can guess the Questions and how we should prepare. Thanks for reminding Geriateric medicine, I will definitely do that. We will be waiting to hear your good news. Wish you the best. 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-11-2011 Good one........ So, what do you think about archer? as, you have not mentioned its name ??? 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-12-2011 Babm9,I did not have the opportunity to read that, I am a very limited oriented student, if I read more than I am gonna confuse more...thats why my one and only source was Step 2 CK notes...... but, in this forum, many advised to read that ......... if you took CK with in one year than you need nothing, just do questions and prepare yourself for exam. 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-12-2011 thanks doc - for the input - it healps many good luck for ur result 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-12-2011 hey Heartly Congrarts ur done with all ur steps..... I have few question i hope u will ans them plz, 1.I usually study from one book and i dont even get along with short books bc they confuse me then.i want to know if u did any short book or its ok to just review kaplan step2ck books again. 2. can u plz tell me ur strategy...i mean in what series u did the material u used for study. 3.my weakness is my mcqs ..i have to practise a lot..so plz tell me doing uw again and again is ok or its better to do some other q bank like kaplan qbank /cornarad fischer mcqs/MKSAP..if so which one is better. 4.i did only uw in step 2 and not kaplan qbank..which i realized that i should had done as it would have helped me in time mangement and making my concept clear...bottom line..should i do it for step3? 5.may i know ur step1 and step2 score if u plz dont mind 6.how did u used to practise ccs cases.r uw cases enough for step3..is there any other source for css cases and if so should i use it..as i have only 3months to prepare.. please do reply me in detail....i would really appreciate ur help thanks a lot 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-12-2011 could you please advice is it enough to do usmleworld Q bank,,or we need to do kaplan q bank as well,, please advice very confused ,, thanks alot 0 - ArchivalUser - 04-13-2011 sorry for late reply............ sdr..... 1)I think you didnot carefully read my post.... I wrote, this is not about reading from single book or any source...its all about your medical life.... once you get questions from anatomy then another from pathology and so on...I can assure you, no source on this earth is sufficient to pass this exam...in this forum, people may say about MTB or archer or premier and so on...but, tell me one person who read all of this or one of these and got all the questions right....No !!!!!also, who read this MTB/archer, they are backed by strong base...its not like that, they just gone through this books or notes and got 99. (2) Kaplan CK notes, Q Bank notes and forum discussion......(3)I didnot get this, your MCQ is weak means what?- what you did in Step 1 &2? If you have weakness there than it will continue here too. So, read CK notes carefully and do as many questions as you can. (4) no, if you feel to do than do more step 3 type questions as Step 2 never asks about Mx, means whats the next best step or next appropriate test ?? I ASSURE you , you can find 50% questions with these paragraphs. 5) Step 1 89 step 2 87 6) UW CCS is enough but try these cases on Primum software and dont forget to practice CCS cases posted on this forum. Franklin.... hope you got your answer. |
