Does step 3 help in ranking or just getting IVs?

Guess it helps in both...I am sure I dont deserve a single IV with my creds..but I have 7, so it sure helps in getting IVs. And as what i know from my friends who have matched..it sure helps in ranking too..

I scored ok, not too bad. 215 it is. and I do need visa. I am old grad (YOG=6 years) and have no USCE or US LOR and an extra attempt in CS ...but step 3 sure made a hell lot of difference.

in psych, 3 in community progrmas, 2 in community based programs and 3 in university based programs.

My other scores are 235/245/cs cleared 2nd attempt/ YOG 2004/ NO USCE/ NO US LORS/ 2 indexed publications. So all in all, what has made the difference is the step 3.
