foreign Medical Student - - ArchivalUser - 03-25-2003

kumr

I am a Green card holder, final year medical student from India. I am interested to do residency in USA.
I would like to know what are the Residency programs a foreign Medical Student can apply.
As per my knowledge ,I am eligible only for
1) General Practice 2) Internal Medicine 3) Pediatrics 4) General Surgery 5)Family Pratice

Is it true???

If not can I apply to any type of program?

Is there any website which tells details of these Issues?.

But I am Interested in Radiology, or Anesthesiology?. How difficult they are, am I eligible for those programs

Any experts help me???????

hi!!
It all depends on your scores and where you are applying. You definately will be given a upper hand over non residents but you should have competative scores.Anaesthesiology is becoming more and more difficult here and so is Radiology because these branches are lucrative as far as money is the matter. And also these people here work in shifts. So American graduates are attracted more towards these branches now. And also in General Surgery, they are trying to fix max number of hours of work per week....so I am sure its gonna be even more difficult now.
