Please consult with your designated dean’s office for assistance when applying to ACGME-accredited programs during SOAP.
What's that mean ?

True but what do you expect? This is America, AMGs will have priority.
Is it different in any other country?

0 - ArchivalUser - 02-25-2012

No but i thought every one equal in america !

Wake up!...... lol
At least we get an opportunity .... not available in many countries.

@aspirin81

that explanation in the thread is just the meaning of the message eras people sent...

but the true situation is much different... why would anyone gamble between us and AMG's even though we have better creds than AMG's... its march... and most img's need a visa... even though the visa process of those who regularly match begins around the same time... why would programs risk giving a visa to someone whom they just spoke to on the phone???

dont get me wrong i am not against IMG's its pretty much common sense... whom would you choose if you had to trust something important with??? 1)a guy you have personally met face to face (or) 2)some guy you just spoke to on the phone...

besides even if programs decide to sponsor visa, consulates in home countries have become strict in giving visa, as a result of which programs who have filled all their positions are getting understaffed because candidates are not getting visas, that is also one of the reasons why many programs which gave h1 are not sponsoring it anymore... if you think about it... it is indirectly a reason why programs wont risk giving a position to a candidate requiring a visa...

@jimjima
agreed, if anyone has a question they should search whether it has been discussed earlier... people seem to have forgotten that there is a search engine in this forum...
