My STEP 1 Journey ENDS !!!! Yayyy - stranger016 - ArchivalUser - 02-26-2014
I am really pleased as i am typing my step 1 journey,all thanks to allah who didnt let me down with the result and ofcourse all the forum members who helped me clear my doubts all the way through this journey,i got a descent score of 237 :-)
lemme share my experience,i would be really happy if atleast one person would benefit from this
STUDY MATERIALS:i started first with kaplan lecture notes and videos for all the subjects except patho for which i used goljan .This really helped me clear my basic concepts(i read it thoroughly once).then i started with uworld and along with it i used to do FA and make my notes in FA itself.Then after finishing uworld i started doing NBMES,i did all the nbme forms(NBME 13 and 15 online and others offline)
TEST DAY:my exam center was not in my state so i had to travel a day before my exam to a different state and stay in hotel.the day before exam i just went to the center just to get familiar with the place.I reached exam center at 7 in the morning on the test day,i was given a locker to keep my belongings.My exam was scheduled at 8 am but it started around 740...Though i was familiar with the exam i took the tutorial,finished the tutorial in 5mins and then started with the first block....first block was really difficult and i took a break of 2mins after the block, though i dint move from my chair..then started with the second which was comparitively easy and them took a break of 10 mins,went to washroom had few bananas and biscuits and few sips of mango juice and then started with the third block then fourth and the fifth,fifth block was again very difficult so after fifth block again i took a break of 10 mins and then sixth block then break and then seventh block to end the test
for me the test was harder than nbmes,in each block they were about 50% easy questions and 30% average type of questions and 20% wtf type questions.after the test i felt that i wouldnt be able to clear this step,but thanks to allah its over alhumdullillah

NBME13------221(7weeks before exam)
NBME15------231(3 weeks before exam)
STEP1--------237
I really want to thank all the forum members especially MIRACOLI,SARIM,PSYCHMELDR,SALLU,WHATSFORDINNER,SINNOMBRE,SHOOL,SHINEONUSMLE and all other members forgive me if i missed anyone
i just want to say when i can do it definetly u can do it as well so just keep working hard and never give up and u would be definetly rewarded

congrats !! plz tell how far apart did u give nbme 13 & 15 from ur exam? & did u do ALL the nbmes as in from nbme 1?

1. I also took all the NBMEs and I found out that the style of the exam is changing and my collegues all agree that the exam is getting harder gradually. Do you feel so?
2. I wanna know the harder Qs you mentioned, how hard are they? You feel it hard becaese they exeed the cover of FA or they are just tricky or multi-step reasoning or something elso? Can you describe the hardass you encountered and are there any strategies to deal with them?
