what are my options? - rkus - ArchivalUser - 02-23-2015

Hi , I just got one IV , which is a prematch. They are not in the NRMP list. What to do ???

if you havent received a prematch offer... count your losses and opt out of the match .. better to not be a repeat applicant next season .. and soap is hopeless for IMGs.

Attend the interview and do your best. Also register in the NRMP.

He must have attended the interview!!

if you have not attended the interview, go there and do your best. you have a good chance of securing the position if you impress them since time is running out and i'm sure they want to wrap up the interviews.

meanwhile, remain active in the nrmp. there is no risk since you ranked no program. if asked at the interview, tell them you are not on nrmp. if they dont offer you the position, you will have the opportunity to soap.

there's no penalty for being a repeat applicant

No shot. Unless SOAP happens

If you've already done the IV and did not get an offer, all you can do is hope the SOAP works out for you. But know that its hard for an IMG to get match during SOAP and with only having 1 IV it probably meant that your cred's were not as competitive as most others.
