I have a obvious scar on my face due to a accident when i was a child. I wonder do i still have a chance to be a doctor?
please tell me the truth before i spend tons of time and money on usmle preparation. thanks

wat're you talkin about, a scar doesn't matter. that's ridiculous if you think someone especially at such an esteemed position is going to judge you by a scar. write the exam and pass flawlessly and flaunt it the faces of haters

hey gary.. i dont know if u are a girl or guy....beauty is skin deep...if someone is gonna jugde u by ur superficial beauty they are stupid then...i personally believe tht this has got nothing to do with u being a super duper doc...my trauma proff is handicapped...wanna know how...he was hit in a accident and then his hip joint could not be replaced properly and he still limps...i mean the limp is terrible...but u know wht i admire in him...he said since no one could perform the operation so well this was like 40-50 yrs ago whn he was a kid...he determined to be one of the best docs...and he indeed is one of the famous orthopedic surgeons..did he stop just becoz he has a physical challenge??? NOOOO...IN FACT HE CONSTANTLY REMINDED HIMSELF THT HE HAS TO HELP PPL LIKE HIM...KIDSS,,ADULTS,POOR ETC AND ETC...and hes the HOD (head of deptt)...and he inspires his students thru his story...I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM TILL MY LAST BREATH!!!...its a wonderful inspiring true story...

MORAL: Physical things dont matter...superficial things dont matter...wht matters is ur persistance...and ur will to acheive something!! your presence to bring a remarkable change in mankind...you have been benefitted to serve the mankind for a better purpose...so my dear friend we are all one and the same...forget abt scars...its not even a matter to be thought/discussed abt....just go with ur dreams...u wanna be a doc...BE ONE!!!..

Nothing is impossible...ALL THE BEST IN UR FUTURE ENDEAVOURS!!

NOW CHEER UP AND DONT BE DEPRESSED...!!

Knowledge of your subject, and great work as a Doctor totally eclipses any physical defects you might have...You should see the movie "Pay it forward" with Helen HUnt, Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osmonte...

what r u thinking? everybody has flaws and each one has a complex about their looks..that shouldn't deter you from helping others who are in real distress and need you all the more. stop thinking about your appearance......
acne, scars, pigmentation probs these are things which work best on an empty mind.....start studying and every time you answer a question your scar will fade from your mind and you will glow! goodluck
