hi i am an old grad (2000), scores in 90s, step 2 cs next week, done resd in ophthal back home. applying for im.
now heres the silly part...........shall i also apply for fm/psych too........as a back up option?

U should do what u want to. If u want IM go for IM firing on all cylinders. Look and apply to all programs whose criterias accept you. You will find plenty of them and u stand a good chance in IM.
